Katsudon Experimental Press
Every print comes off a professional wide-format printer running Epson’s 10-colour UltraChrome HDX pigment ink system. Pigment inks hold up against UV and humidity in ways dye-based inks simply don’t, and on cotton rag they carry archival ratings of over 200 years. That puts them well beyond anything a high-street lab will produce.
We print exclusively on Hahnemühle paper. Hahnemühle has been making fine-art paper since 1584, and their inkjet range brings the same rigour to photographic printing as their traditional printmaking stock. The Photo Matt and Photo Luster papers produce sharp, colour-accurate results at a price that suits portfolios, reproductions, and everyday display. The Photo Rag papers are a different proposition: 100% cotton with museum-standard archival ratings of over 200 years, and a physical weight and presence that turns the print into a museum-grade art piece. The right choice depends on your intentions and budget.

Photo Matt Fibre
Hahnemühle Photo Matt Fibre (200g) has a completely matte surface that eliminates glare entirely. It gives prints a quiet, considered look that suits portraits and black-and-white work — clean shadows and neutral tones without any surface distraction.
Photo Luster
Hahnemühle Photo Luster (260g) has a semi-gloss surface that cuts reflections compared to full gloss while holding deep blacks and vivid colour saturation. It’s the right choice for colour photography and portfolio printing when you want excellent results without the cost of cotton rag.
Photo Rag Matt Baryta
Hahnemühle Photo Rag Matt Baryta (308g) is 100% cotton rag with a baryta coating and a untextured matte surface. The baryta layer lifts the D-max beyond what other papers can achieve, giving black-and-white prints deeper shadow detail without any surface sheen. It carries the same museum-standard archival rating as any cotton rag paper.
Photo Rag Pearl
Hahnemühle Photo Rag Pearl (320g) is 100% cotton rag with a pearl finish. It keeps the tactile quality of rag paper while delivering richer blacks and higher colour saturation than the matte version. It’s the right choice when you want museum-quality archival stock without giving up visual depth.
Custom sizes
We can print to any dimensions up to A2 on any of our stocked papers, or on a paper sourced to order. Custom work requires a short consultation to confirm dimensions and agree on pricing. Any additional fees will be confirmed before we start.
Proofing
Aren’t sure which paper is right for you? Need to see how your image looks on paper before committing to a full print run? Our proofing service gives you a preview of what the finished product looks like. Proofs are watermarked, and student discounts unfortunately do not apply.
Photogravure is a 19th-century printmaking process that produces prints unlike anything a digital printer outputs. We use a specialized etching press that drives the ink into the paper and leaves an impression of the plate in the sheet, giving the final print a tonal depth and presence that no giclée print can achieve. We print on Hahnemühle mould-made alpha-cellulose paper, which is made for intaglio work at this quality level. We do every step by hand, and a single print takes around thirty minutes of skilled work once the plate is created. The result is a museum-quality print that holds up as a physical art object in a way that surpasses any digital print.
