Making museum-quality giclée prints requires more than just a good printer, it requires a carefully calibrated workflow to ensure the highest standards of color reproduction. And, as I'm learning, it’s not easy. You have to color calibrate your display of course. You also need specialized printing software that can take total control over your printer’s output, and a color-calibrated printer. It’s this last part that has given me the screaming heebie-jeebies over the past week: I just couldn’t seem to coax my giclée printer into producing the colors I expected to see. Earlier this week, I had a breakthrough after finding the hidden printer settings that needed to be disabled to grant my printing software the total control it needed. One last session of printing calibration matrices, and I’m finally getting the color output I’ve been expecting and that my clients demand. With this last step complete, I’m ready to start printing the orders I’ve been receiving!
