I’m Don Goodman, an American photographer and printmaker operating my own workshop—Katsudon Experimental Press—in Lisbon. Inspired by an introduction to the Japanese art of woodcut engraving at a workshop in Tokyo, at KEP I explore giclée, relief, and photogravure printmaking. My work heavily emphasizes the slow process of traditional printmaking techniques as a critique of the instant gratification of LLM-generated slop. But there are other technologies, like 3d printing, that are opening new avenues of printmaking, and I am excited about exploring how to leverage contemporary technology to extend my craft.
